Open Creamery Day
Sunday, October 11, 11 - 3

What better reason for a fall road trip to Maine?  Visit the creameries, meet the animals and learn the stories behind Maine’s more than 150 artisan cheeses.  While you’re at it visit a farmers’ market, stop at an orchard, make a stop at one of Maine’s premier breweries and visit one of the many artisan breadmakers our state has to offer.  Make a food pilgrimage to Maine.  You’ll love the views, but you’ll remember the taste! Visit the Maine Cheese Guild's website for a list of participating creameriers.

Christmas in the Country Open House 2009
Saturday and Sunday, December 5 & 6, 10-4

This year, we will hold our Open House and Holiday Sale at Appleton Creamery, 980 Gurney Town Road.

Christmas in the Country Open House is a celebration sponsored by the Union Area Chamber of Commerce. Many local area businesses will be hosting special holiday events. At Appleton Creamery, we will have our delectible cheeses for sale, Sisters Soaps, and many other holiday delights. Our neighbors, Terra Optima Farm, will have their delicious grass-fed beef and pastured pork, and Sennebec Sausage. All the whey from our cheesemaking operation goes to feed the pigs, resulting in an exceptionally delicious product.

We hope many of our friends will stop by to say hello.

Where are we?

We are located in midcoast Maine, in the village of Appleton, just off Route 17 between Augusta and Rockland. Our area enjoys rural living at its best, and is just a short drive to the beautiful coast and the ocean.

From Rt 17 in Union, turn at the blinking light at the Damariscotta Bank onto the Sennebec Road. Go 3 miles, turn right onto the Gurney Town Road. The farm is on the left (#780) after about 1.5 miles. Look for the signs and the goats. Terra Optima Farm is the next farm on the left.

From Rt 105/131 in Appleton Village, turn onto the Sennebec Road. At the top of the hill, bear left at the flagpole. At the stop sign, go straight onto the Sleep Hollow Road for about 1 mile, over a bridge at the mill pond. At the top of the hill, turn right onto Gurney Town Road. Appleton Creamery is the first house on the right (#780) after the house at the sharp corner. Look for the signs and the goats. Terra Optima Farm is the farm at the corner.
